Consolidating a Global Legacy Estate into Fenergo

Turning fragmented global data into a trusted foundation

A leading global private capital administrator was moving its investor onboarding and client lifecycle management onto Fenergo. Before the platform could deliver, the organisation needed one trusted view of its clients and investors. We led the data migration that made that possible.

The Challenge

A leading global private capital administrator was undertaking a strategic transformation of its investor onboarding and client lifecycle capabilities through the implementation of the Fenergo platform. Operating across multiple jurisdictions, the organisation had accumulated a complex legacy estate comprising fund administration platforms, AML systems, finance applications and locally maintained data repositories.

Years of jurisdiction-specific growth had resulted in investor, client and related-party data being duplicated across systems with inconsistent structures, varying levels of quality and no universal identifier. Before the organisation could realise the benefits of its Fenergo implementation, it first needed to establish a trusted and consolidated view of its client and investor population.

Our Role

Marbral was engaged to provide specialist consultant support to lead the data migration workstream, taking responsibility for the strategy, governance and delivery of migration activity across multiple jurisdictions. Working alongside programme leadership, business stakeholders, compliance teams and the implementation partner, our team established a repeatable migration capability capable of supporting successive deployment phases.

The work extended far beyond the physical movement of data. It included:

  • Defining the migration strategy, governance model and delivery framework

  • Analysing and profiling data across a diverse legacy landscape

  • Designing source-to-target mappings into Fenergo's target data structures

  • Establishing reconciliation, validation and audit controls

  • Leading complex entity de-duplication and golden-record creation

  • Managing migration cycles, dress rehearsals and phased cutovers

  • Coordinating technical resources and business stakeholders throughout delivery

Our Approach

One of the programme's most significant challenges was the identification and resolution of duplicate entities. Investors, client organisations and related parties existed multiple times across disconnected systems, often recorded differently from one jurisdiction to another.

Marbral introduced a structured approach to data discovery, cleansing, normalisation and entity resolution to identify trusted records and preserve critical relationships between investors, funds and associated parties. Alongside this, a robust migration platform and repeatable ETL framework were implemented to support multiple migration iterations and ensure consistent delivery standards throughout the programme.

The Results

465,000 Records migrated into Fenergo

The programme successfully delivered multiple migration phases into Fenergo, consolidating data from numerous legacy platforms and spreadsheet repositories into a single target environment. Approximately 465,000 records were migrated, including client entities, investors and related parties, creating a trusted and auditable foundation for the organisation's future onboarding and compliance processes.

Beyond supporting the Fenergo implementation itself, the resulting cleansed and de-duplicated dataset became a key component of the client's wider master data strategy. What began as a migration initiative evolved into a strategic data asset, providing a foundation for improved operational efficiency, stronger compliance controls and future business transformation.

Why it mattered

The Marbral team brought structure, governance and delivery discipline to a highly complex migration programme, transforming fragmented global client and investor data into a trusted foundation supporting regulatory compliance, operational efficiency and long-term data management objectives.
